Description

Not long ago, I speculated that my November 1914 Bringing Up Father daily might be the earliest one known, only to have that theory shot down in less than a week. I'm going out on a limb and again speculating about this strip being the earliest. It was sold at auction as being the second oldest sold by the auction house, but the one that had been represented as being from 1913 clearly was not from that year or from earlier in 1914 than this strip. I know that there is a decent chance that an earlier BUF daily is out there somewhere, but the worst that can happen is that my wishful claim will cause someone to inform me that I am wrong again!

Museum piece! And so historically significant, since it features the Italian genius Guglielmo Marconi, father of long-distance radio communication, awarded with the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1909
