Mike Vosburg What If? #36 Story Page 7 Nova . Rough Layout, and Production Materials (Marvel, 1982). A great example of the process of creating a comic book story, and it has original art by Mike Vosburg starring Nova the Human Rocket! There are seven pieces all matted together that show a script-to-printed page trip through the process. There is a page of Bill Mantlo's original script (for Page 6 of the story), Mike Vosburg's 4" x 6" graphite rough layout for the page, a photocopy Vosburg's pencil work, his finished page in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15", Christie Scheele's color guide for the issue with hand-colored work and color call-out notes on printed line art, a copy of the printed page, and lastly a printed copy of the cover of this issue of What If?. The finished inked page contains the hand-lettered text by Rick Parker, so this really is a bumper-to-bumper example of the process. The top panel on the inked page is a stripped-in original art panel, and it is personalized and signed by Vosburg in that panel. This page is lightly toned and in otherwise Excellent condition. Everything is matted together in an oversized 36" x 32" mat. This display shows the process and how many people are involved in creating a single page of comic art.
