DescriptionThis has long been one of my favorite covers from my era. It is not a particularly fancy shmancy story - serving as a kind of tie-in to the Nick Fury Vs S.H.I.E.L.D deluxe format series event - but it was during one of my personal favorite periods - the long and fun Mark Gruenwald run on Cap when Kieron Dwyer was on the title. I loved his take on the book and he drew a fantastic Cap.This particular cover reminds me of those Tales Of Suspense Cap issues or the early Cap solo title where there was a lot of espionage introduced and he was more closely linked to Sgt. Fury at first and later Nick Fury and SHIELD. This has been a recurring theme since and was a central plot of the Captain America films. In this issue Cap and Fury have to fight a corrupted Helicarrier that turns itself and its weapons against them but through it all - as you can see by this nearly 30 year old classic cover - Fury's cigar doesn't even go out. That's superhuman. Captain America #351 March, 1989 "Changing Of The Guard" Writer: Mark Gruenwald Social/Sharing |

Great cover! Love Kieron Dwyer's work on Captain America! And when you've got both Nick Fury and DD on the same cover, you know it's a winner!
