Asuka Langley (Evangelion) by Mingjue Helen Chen, 2017

      Visual development animation artist and comic book artist Mingjue Helen Chen drew a number of Evangelion pieces for her online posts and sketchbooks so I asked for this commission as a reward for a charitable donation. She is one of the artists featured in the Lovely: Girls of Animation Collaborative Art Book. Helen drew covers for Marvel's Silk and some covers and panel pages for DC's Gotham Academy. This is Neon Genesis Evangelion operator Asuka Langley from one of the later movies. Yoshiyuki Sadamoto was the character designer for the animation and the mangaka for the comic adaptation. The Studio Gainax filmmakers named her for the first US Navy aircraft carrier.
