Description

A page out of the short story "Judgment day" from the 80ies. Same time Charles Burns did publish for the RAW magazine.

The main character of the short story is Ricky Bilk. A character what does belong since longer time to the Burns-Univers. Ricky Bilk was allready visible on the background of the famous "Brick by Brick" cover for Iggy Pop and aswell on one of the "Goon Squad" trading cards.

Love the uneasy feeling Burns can pull off in his work. His inks are fantastic and this is a nice example!

What a terrific page! Burns is so unique. I love the combination of clean cartoonish lines and shapes with realistic, unsettling themes and characters. Lots of tension between 2-D graphical shapes and depth as well. The vibe in his 80s comics prefigured a lot of popular comics and TV/movies in the following decade, IMO.
