Description

Encountering Hard Boiled was a burning bush moment for me so I was ecstatic to get a Darrow Hard Boiled drawing. Such great acting and the detail of the knuckles, the dimensionality of the shirt, and that X mark on the chin fucking rule! This piece has a real nice, soft touch and it's absolutely brimming with power.

artless artmore has posted a near identical piece to this one! But their's appears to be on paper, and if you check it out, which I encourage you to do, you'll see slight variations. Would love to know the story behind the twin pieces.

Doppelganger! Back when I bought my Nixon piece from Geoff at SDCC in the mid 90s, he told me that it was for a trading card. No image exactly like this appears in Hard Boiled anyplace, so that makes sense to me, but I've never seen this image in print as a card or otherwise. I'm sheltering in place far from much of my collection at the moment, but I'm pretty sure my piece is on vellum tracing paper as you say, rather than bristol board. Yours looks inked as well, unlike the pencil prelims he does on bristol board to later be inked on tracing paper. I wonder if he finished your piece first and then had to trace it to change the aspect ratio or something? Wish I had bought more from him back in the day...
