Description

A classic cover of a classic story, The Time Machine (Berkley book, 1963).
Powers did several different covers for The Time Machine through the years, but this is my favorite. Powers did a cover for the 1957 version that is nearly identical, but it must have lost or destroyed so he repainted THIS version for the 1963 (and subsequent) release.

Wonderful classic cover! It does have a little more pizzazz than the ealier version, which is also great, but they are surprisingly similar given that Powers went ahead and repainted the whole thing. I wonder if the original and the plates of it were lost? Congratulations on aquiring this beauty and thanks for posting!

Thanks! The colors on this was a real surprise when I first viewed it (the book cover does not capture it).

And yes, I think this version is a bit more dynamic and focused on the Time Traveler. Small adjustments/improvements as Powers evidently saw it.
