Description

A few days ago, I posted an Ed Emshwiller prelim done for one of Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser stories that ran in Fantastic Stories, Here's another prelim by Emsh for that series, this time illustrating "The Lords of Quarmall", which Leiber wrote with Harry Fischer. The story snagged Emsh covers for both the January and February 1964 issues of Fantastic Stories, and as you can see, this prelim concept was not used for either. However, the art editor must have liked it to some degree, since the opening illustration for the story inside the February 1964 issue is based on this concept.
