DescriptionHere's an interior illo by Hubert Rogers that I picked up several years ago. It's for L. Sprague de Camp's "The Queen of Zemba," and appeared in the September 1949 issue of Astounding Science Fiction.A few weeks ago, some folks on one of the yahoo groups I belong to, Fictionmags, mentioned a website hosted by the University of California. On it are thousands of photos taken by SF fan Jay Jay Klein at various SF cons, which were donated to the UC Riverside Library and have been digitized. They're fascinating to look at, and while searching through them, I found a photo (which I'll post as well), showing this illo. It was sold at the art auction at Tricon, the 24th Worldcon, held in September 1966. The Kelly Freas Astounding cover in the middle of the top row in the photo also still exists, and the owner brought it for display earlier this year at the Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention.
