Superman tries to save Supergirl in "Kandor vs. Supergirl"

by the 'Artist's Artist' Jose Luis Garcia Lopez.
I had recently traded away my only Garcia Lopez cover, so I was extremely happy to obtain this one as a replacement.

After a DC mini- implosion Supergirl joined Jimmy Olson, Lois Lane, Krypto, Superboy, Flamebird and Nightbird in a new title "Superman Family" headlined by Superman.

The title ran from issues 164 May 1974 to issue 222 September 1982 (the title apparently continued its sequential numbering from the cancelled Jimmy Olsen series).

Supergirl gradually assumed more prominence in the title and was the featured cover image in the last five issues. Supergirl was granted her second solo title when this Superman Family title ended.

Love the DC covers from this period!! Giordano made all the pencilers look great and really gave a nice consistency to the "DC look"!!
