Description

At the beginning of July 2018, a very nice fellow collector was interested in a piece of art from my collection that i was really not at all interested in selling. For about three weeks, he kept raising his offer and I kept on declining. We had about reached the end of our discussions and I suggested that if he was willing to obtain this piece of art from my old friend Albert Moy's site we could do a trade.

This persistent collector is Robert Windom. After a complicated round of negotiation which involved, Robert, Albert, and Joseph Melchoir Robert was able to obtain the page for me. Robert then flew up to meet me and make the trade.

It was a great experience all around and although I lost a great piece of artwork that I had a great deal of personal attachment to, I did obtain a Frazetta comic book page - and not just any page but a page from Frazetta's romance comics. I had admired these stories since the time Russ Cochran published UNTAMED LOVE. It was some while after Russ' collection was published that I learned there was yet another story that Frazetta did for Eastern Color that was not included in that volume, and some years after that before we got to see the art to "A Love of My Own" (originally published in PERSONAL LOVE #24 in November 1953) in the Caliber Press collection Buried Treasure #3 (August 1990).

It has since been collected elsewhere - most recently in THE SENSUOUS FRAZETTA from Vanguard.

It was great to make a new friend of Robert Windom in an experience I never thought would happen - losing a page from my "permanent" collection to make room for ANOTHER great piece in my permanent collection!

Just an absurdly incredible touch with his brush! I always loved how he drew the female lead in this story.

Exquisite! What a prime example from a peak period. I wish Frazetta made many more comics like this before committing so much time to Capp's studio...

Frazetta romance pages are the cream of the crop. I don't know what you gave up, but I am sure it was worth it.

Frazetta's romance comics from 1953 completely slay me, and this page is a beautiful example of the master's comics work. An artist's edition-type book of this work would be a dream come true!
