Description

What a perfect day. Thanks to my friend Paul Greer, I got to spend an afternoon with Mr. Byrne. We toured his home, saw his studio, the new pencil art on his drawing table, his amazing art collection, and most importantly, met a true hero of mine who's kindness measured up to his legend. Spending the day with him was topped only by sharing it with friends, Paul, Erica and Larry. Mr. Byrne drew this fantastic sketch for me on the menu of the diner where we had lunch; then, he bought us gelato. Best gelato I ever had. We had to leave to make dinner with Alan Davis to celebrate his wonderful wife's birthday (I know, an embarrassment of riches, but that is the way that day's story went), but I hope to see Mr. Byrne again. FYI, sometimes it is OK to met your heroes.

Careful... too many of these stories will make the haters create a new round of BAD Byrne stories ; )

Everytime I spoke with JB at a convention or online has been a real treat, I too am glad to have met my hero! Oh no, that’s another GOOD Byrne story.

My only problem with John Byrne is his lousy signature placement on his original artwork. The artwork itself is always great. Lovely description by the way!

WONDERFUL story, and sincere congratulations on what sounds like an absolutely amazing day; certainly one you'll be able to 'take out of the box' and examine for years and years to come. Thank you for sharing!

Having an experience like that with a personal hero is SO great. Congrats again. :)
