Painted for the DC Comics first fully painted comic book SUPERMAN: LAST GOD OF KRYPTON #1, issued in 1999. WRITTEN BY WALTER SIMONSON; PAINTED ART AND COVER BY GREG AND TIM HILDEBRANDT. Three living legends collaborate on a stunning, fully-painted Prestige one-shot as writer Walter Simonson (MANHUNTER, Thor) teams with fantasy artists the Brothers Hildebrandt, for a tale of a menace to the Man of Steel and all of Earth from the dead planet Krypton! Something has survived the destruction of Krypton... and it's coming after that planet's last son, Superman! Cythonna, a vengeful ice goddess from Krypton's ancient past is heading to Earth, hoping to destroy the last vestige of her homeworld's legacy. When Cythonna blankets the Earth in a deadly blizzard, Superman charges headlong into one of the greatest struggles of his career. Greg and Tim Hildebrandt painted a very limited number of pieces for DC comics during their career together. In 1998, the Brothers Hildebrandt were asked to take on the challenge of painting a superhero legend: Superman! The story is the ONE AND ONLY appearance of Cythonna, an ice goddess who first swears to kill Superman, but then decides to marry him! Every page of the book was painted from edge to edge by the Brothers Hildebrandt. Notice the stylized but realistic features of each character that perfectly blends the worlds of comics and realism.
