Description

Original painting by Frederick Gruger for the story “Her Own Sport,” published by Scribner’s magazine in December 1915. Gruger Is part of a “who’s who” of early 20th century illustration artists. He always worked in miniature, but his fantastic compositions had an enormous influence on a whole set of Illustrators who followed. This piece is from Gruger’s prime period (1910-1920), and shows his tremendous talent. 12” x 8”, watercolor and gauche on board.
