Is it still a “Josie” story without any Josie in it? Although I’m only showing the first page of this 1967 tale, this 5-pager is all Melody, my favorite of the Pussycats. Alex Cabot tries to swindle her, but fails. A variation of the same storyline was repeated at least once more in a later comic. In the comics, Melody is almost always called by her first name. Her last name has changed over time. Originally, it was “Jones”. Then it became “James”, then “Jones” again. Most recently, it’s “Valentine”. The inking credits are a little hazy. One site says Vincent DeCarlo did the inks and the letters, another site says Rudy Lapick did the inks. The story appeared in "Josie #25".
