DescriptionAnd here we have the Infectious Lass of Earth-27B, Lady Eleanore! She's part of the Emergency Vanguard, which is essentially the Legion of Substitute-Heroes counterpart for the Vanguard of Tomorrow.The basis for Eleanore's design comes from a Nathaniel Hawthorne story, "Lady Eleanore's Mantle." It's about a really beautiful and proud young woman who owns this magnificently embroidered mantle (some type of hood apparently) who moves to the American colonies to live with a Massachusetts governor. Only it turns out the seamstress who made her mantle was dying of smallpox and infected the cloth with the disease, so Lady Eleanore becomes the center for an epidemic and wastes away into a hideous wretch because she buried herself so deeply in her mantle. It's basically one of those "Vain girls get punished for their beauty" type of deals. I essentially worked in the color scheme of the mantle, red, silver and gold, into Lady Eleanore's design and figured orange-gold hair would work. Ruri gave her a more elaborate dress and I realized it would work best figuring the Emergency Vanguard, as the back-up heroes, may not always be dressed for heroic occasions. Social/Sharing |
