Dave Wachter showing us why he is the master that he is. Dave was only available one day for this year’s Three Rivers Comic Con. He was my first stop and luckily he was available, I wanted a piece representative of the Dark Knight Returns.

It cannot be overstated how much influence it had on my love of the character and just what I thought a comic could be as a storytelling medium.

I asked for Batman Unmasked as it is one of my favorite themes in my art collection. Seeing Batman Unmasked is Batman in a vulnerable state and it lets the artist interpret Bruce in their own way.

I imagine what is now becomes a subset of my Unmasked theme this is almost a lost moment from the first Chapter of Dark Knight, before he is “baptized” Bruce is just about to emerge onto the battlefield of the streets of Gotham City.

Seeing how Dave ink washes this piece is a feast for the eyes the detail is just incredible.

All in All I could not be happier with how this piece turned out. Thanks again to Dave Wachter for creating such a beautiful piece.
