Description
11x17

This piece is published as DPS on pages 34 & 35 of "Overkill: Witchblade - Aliens - Darkness - Predator" vol 1 issue 2 of 2 (Top Cow/Image/Dark Horse 2001) and colored by Steve Firchow. Additionally, this piece is found in a sketch within the article on page 33 and also on the inside of the back cover in a hidden black on dark grey imprint. It is amazingly published 3 times in this single issue! I also discovered that it was published by MG Publishing as the cover for issue 3 in Germany.

Face to face, it is a mesmerizing masterwork of ink that has stolen many hours from me. It is one of my favorite pieces ever put to comic board. Words cannot do this visual poetry justice. I look at this craftsmanship in awe.

(Permanent private collection.)

It is as cool as they come. I can't wait for it to arrive, so I can get a nice scan up here. I can just stare at Joe's work for hours. You two worked together on some of those Darkness books, right?

Yes, Joe and I were roommates for 12 years. So he and I did a ton pages while living in that condo.

That is so awesome, John. What a team! You guys helped craft some incredible books. I sincerely appreciate your work. It must have been something to see when you were slinging the ink together.

I apologize. As a unique representation of some of my favorite work this will not be for sale or trade. It is a cornerstone in my permanent collection.

This is the grail of Joe Wems V's outstanding work that I've kept track of and referenced for years as an example of masterful black line composition. I honestly never dreamed the stars would align as they did for me to adopt this piece, but it is receiving museum treatment for as long as I am its humble caretaker.

I'm so glad you found it on CAF. It is listed here so it will continue to be enjoyed by anyone who searches for it.

(Hi-res scans coming soon. I'll also upload images of all of its published appearances.)

HA! I'm in Denver. It's outside of Littleville, CO, but not quite Zenith City. ;)
