Description

I bought the pencil prelim of this piece two years ago while having dinner with fellow collectors at SDCC. When this inked finished piece became available I jumped at it. The origins of this character are a little complicated so I'll just let Mr. Willingham explain it in the following email he sent me.

"It has an odd story. When I first pitched the notion of a Shadowpact series to DC, it was going to be all new characters based on classic monsters. This was the vampire character whose name, I believe, was going to be Blackmark. The costume was actually designed by Matt Wagner for a short-lived V&V game I ran in our Philadelphia studio way back when. I liked the costume design so much I traded Matt the cover art to Elementals #3 for the rights to the costume. I still may make use of it someday. Who knows?"
