Description
Love him or hate him, there is no doubt what an important figure Alan Moore has been to comics in the past 4 decades. He has elevated comics and created some of the most important works in the medium to date. Among those is From Hell which is beautifully illustrated by Eddie Campbell. His scratchy style fit nicely with the time period and gives life to the shadows and dark corners in which this story takes place. I have had a few From Hell pages over the years but none have stuck and had moved on to other collections. This is the one I was waiting for. It is about as nice a page as you could hope to find and has a final image that is iconic. I am happy to have this piece and it will be framed shortly and on my wall. See additional images for a close up of the last panel.

The dark inhuman shape emerging from darkness is impressive indeed! A great page from this great story! Incidentally, as Alan Moore alludes to it in his notes, the song about the series appears to be VERY old indeed... It seems it is at least two thousand years old and linked to oral teachings of the druidic tradition. Apparently, some verses contain allusion to the Roman Invasions of Brittany... A fitting touch to this deeply dark story, I think...
