G.I. Joe: Baroness

Anastasia Cisarovna, Anastasia DeCobray… regardless of her surname, she answers to only one title: Baroness. She is the Head of Intelligence for Cobra, a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world. I've never drawn her before and I have to say that this was a learning curve given the texture and colors on her costume were very limited. In the end it became a decision of using white out or prismacolor cool gray pencil crayons to create highlights. Rendered in mixed media on 11 x 17" handtrimmed Canson, I referenced actress Jennifer Love Hewitt's face to create some of the nuances of her features. I initially wanted to be free flowing with the hair via india inks but I stuck to Microns instead. In keeping with the framing I've committed this line of artwork to, I've thrown in a combination of yellow-red and yellow tones to create the explosive burst, then threw in India Ink to blacken the area to finish the illusion. I'm proud of this piece and was one of the most sold prints I at the G.I. Joe Collector's Platoon.
