Mort Cinder was a pivotal point in Breccia's career. It is his most influential work and one of the last times he would work with Oesterheld. Breccia matured so much as an artist over this project and became the master of light and shadows. I always liked the visuals in the penitentiary story the most with stripes and jail bars. When a page for it was available, I knew I had finally found my Mort Cinder page. This is the first page in the 2 part story and Mort in featured in several scenes. Take a look at the additional images for close ups of all the panels so you can see the technique and finesse that is Breccia.

Wonderful "la penitenciaría" page Jeff!...It´s dificult to find something better than a Mort Cinder page. One of the highpoints of the comic medium.

Hey now, that's a nice one! Is that a Hitchcock-like cameo in panel 3? The prison guard looks suspiciously like the maestro ;-)
