Description

Next up in the Justice Toys is Nightlight, who's shaping up to be my favorite of the group. She's the Green Lantern character, with one of the visual inspirations the "Green Ghost" board game as well as shows like "Lambchop" and "Blue's Clues."

Nightlight started out as a plush toy a woman used to tell her nephew stories, and she later used the toy to pitch an educational TV show the likes of which Shelley DuVall work on in the 1980s. Nightlight was proposed as a ghost who lived in a haunted house with all her friends, but she taught kids about learning to face your fears while also imparting lessons about how it's sometimes okay to be scared and how everyone moves at their own pace. Nightlight's creator worked hard to prevent the show from being shamelessly commercialized by the executives because she didn't want the message to be watered down.

Unfortunately, Nightlight's creator died but managed to end the show on her own terms so it had a proper conclusion. Her spirit went on to inhabit the original doll so she's able to project hard light images from the lantern.
