Fantastic Four #52 Marvel office stat of unused version

Production of Marvel comics in the 1960s was chaotic, and mistakes were often made. In the case of this issue, they apparently made stats of the cover and filed them away, then made changes in the cover and forgot to replace the old versions with new stats. Thus, when they went to the files to pull out a stat to use for some foreign version or other sort of reprint, sometimes they ended up sending the "old" version instead of the new one.

As a result, some vintage foreign editions of this issue have the revised cover, and some have the old cover.

This was one of those which got sent out but remained unused by the foreign publisher. So, it hasn't been altered with foreign text. I don't know how many there are like this, but there aren't likely to be many. So far it's the only vintage copy of this cover version in its original state that I've ever seen. Even though it's a comic-sized stat, it could conceivably be the only 1966 Vintage example of this version of the cover.

The full size board this was made from may not exist, either. It was created using stats from the "original original" cover version (which was very different and does exist. It can be seen in several books about Marvel and sold at auction years ago for well into six figures). That original cover was then altered with the Black Panther figure mechanically copied, shrunk and flipped, with his costume redrawn to be as it is here, with the new images of the FF you see on this version. It was then revised once more to eliminate the Panther's cape and make his costume all black and covering his entire face.
