Courageous Princess page 172 by Rod Espinosa

      Courageous Princess by Rod Expinosa is a brilliant work which breaks the trope of most fairy tales: Princess Mabelrose is the girl who rescues herself from danger. I bought the Courageous Princess: The Kingdom of Leptia from Antarctic Press in 2002. Rod and I use to see each other regularly in San Diego, but I stopped going in 2014 and Rod gave it up after 2015. We had a happy reunion when Rod signed at Brian Hibbs' Comix Experience in San Francisco in January 2020. I was delighted to see originals for sale. I'm using the page number from the Dark Horse 2007 paperback which I have handy. This page shows Mabelrose and Spiky meeting Sherida, one of the Anifolk. Sherida leads them to the Delightful Inn. The bamboo stalks in the margins were scanned and added digitally as backgrounds. The gray area is due to gentle folding of the heavy drawing paper.
