Description

What if DC Comics and Archie Comics had let their teenagers meet each other in a double-sized cross-over book in the summer of 1969? I sent the question to Bill Galvan who immediatly went to work. The best way to fit a lot of characters on a cover is to do it "JLA-style" mimicking Kevin Maguire so that decision was obvious. Then we had to pick which characters to include and settled for Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead & Reggie, and Binky, Peggy, Lucy, Sylvester & Sherwood. 10 characters was just about enough without getting a too crammed look. There were also discussions how everyone should dress (and I had to urge Bill to make the guys' sideburns bigger) to look authentic, and I think we succeeded quite well in that department.

Now if only someoe could pitch this idea to the people in charge at DC and Archie and get it approved... With the right writer (and Bill as the artist) I am sure it could be an enjoyable read.

I include the pencils and finished inks among the additional images. Note that Bill made different logos for the DC and Archie editions!

Such a fun idea and so cleverly done. You and I are probably the last people who remember Binky and his gang, but I'd love to see this team-up.
