Warlock & the Infinity Watch 5 page 7 By Angel Medina & Bob Almond

A « quiet » page from Warlock & the Infinity Watch issue 5.

I discovered Medina on that title and instantly fell in love with his art. From that point, I tracked down his other contributions to the comic field, most notably on Dreadstar (another cosmic gig which most likely landed him the Warlock assignment).

Nothing big happens here. We have the armored villains in the top and bottom panels.

Apart from the fact that pages from this serie by Angel are pretty scarce (of which he drew only 12 issues up to issue 25, the later part not being as tightly inked as the first half), my main attraction here was the somewhat splashy “center panel”. We have Warlock flying in space. Even though the position of his body is a bit strange, it remains dynamic with a great flow of his cape. It offers a big ship and a large and lushly inked black portion of deep space.

That’s cosmic Marvel to me.

And, tangentially, it was cheap ^^
