Description
Cover painted by Rafael López Espí for the Spanish edition of THE INCREDIBLE HULK VOL.1 #135, published by Vértice in 1971. It's titled "Storm in sidereal time" and The USA content corresponds to The Incredible Hulk Vol.1 #135 and Archie Comics.

One of the most iconic covers of the series of the emerald giant as well as a splendid pin up with the main character, in the purest "poster" style of López Espí's time. In his own words, he describes it as one of his three favorites, together with issues 1 and 12 (...) "Number 16, to symbolize the passing of time, in accordance with the title. I considered it appropriate to enhance the power of the Hulk against the WEIGHT (kg.) of time illustrated as a basaltic rock".

Below is a comparison between the Spanish cover published by Vertice and the original american, published by Marvel. The cover is based on The Incredible Hulk Vol.1 #135 by Herb Trimpe and Marie Severin (January, 1971).

********

I love seeing these Espi foreign covers. They're so striking and different yet there is such a comforting house style. Bravo!

So nice.  Love the juxtaposition of colors between the green Hulk, white number letting, and that orange background.  This reminds me of Steranko's classic Hulk cover, but it's a stellar piece of art in its own right!  Congrats!

I think this might be my new favorite work by the master. I absolutely love the way Hulk looks and the years gone by on his mighty green shoulders is brilliant.
