Description

Steve was finishing up this drawing in a sketchbook when I walked up to his booth. The owner of the sketchbook was present and she and Steve were having a lively conversation. I hung back and listened, waiting for an opening to ask if he was still doing sketches. Turned out he was available to do one last sketch for the day, so I jumped at the opportunity for a drawing of Captain America (check out my Steve Rude Gallery for the drawing).

As Steve drew Captain America in his drawing pad, he talked to the woman he just finished sketching for and me. He asked me what I did for a living and where I worked. When I replied, he excitedly said, “Jennifer works at the same company, you two should be friends!” Yes, I met the woman I would some day marry at Steve Rude’s table at a comic book convention.

My wife has been to more comic shows and conventions than I have! She had the forethought to bring a sketchbook along with her to many of the shows.
