An extremely detailed cover for the original edition of Simon Clark's novel of a zombie rampage, often reprinted, but never again with so ferocious a defining image. The large-scale painting is as grisly and effective as any scene ever associated with such more prominent dead-alive stories as George Romero's Night of the Living Dead or Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead.

I don't know what it is about this painting but I am Crazy about it! Unlike many covers that have little to do with the story, this painting depicts several aspects of the story from the endless zombie heads frozen in the river, to the church steeple in the background where unfortunate kids are forced to "carry the can". The painted detail in the first zombie head, for example, is unreal and parts had to have been done with a brush of only one hair! It's an amazing piece to see in person that the photo does not capture.
