P. Craig Russell Killraven Sketch

So I just got this on Ebay in 2020, a staggering forty-four years after it was drawn, possibly for FREE, for some fan, possibly at one of Phil Seuling's conventions. I met Craig at a con in San Jose a year later, '77, when I was 16 and he was my favorite artist. He had a stack of Killraven pages for sale for $35 each. Unfortunately, as he admitted, somebody had come by earlier and cherry-picked all the best ones out of the pile. Otherwise one of those pages would have been my first OA purchase. I still remember the one page that seemed almost worth the $35, and if it ever comes up for sale I will definitely pay some multiples to get it. In the meantime, this sketch has a soothing kind of full-circle effect on my tender fanboy psyche. It's drawn on some kind of odd 9 x 12 paper --I don't think the paper was ever white-- in blue pencil and fine point marker pen, not ball point. BTW, Marshall Rogers and Frank Brunner were at the con too, and they were charging way more, like $100-200 a page. Craig was very modest and nice.
