Description

This piece features the very first ever published image of the creature "Darktentacles" from the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons "Ruins of Undermountain" box set published by TSR in 1991 and designed by Ed Greenwood and a part of their wildly popular 2nd Edition "Forgotten Realms" campaign setting.

Darktentacles first appeared in the "Undermountain Adventures" portion of this box set and has become an established and widely used creature in the pantheon on D&D monsters ever since. Chaotic Evil, intelligent, and dangerous, Darktentacles was a very difficult opponent to overcome, and was later featured in Monster Manual II (3rd edition) as well as other novels and adventures and is a creature still in use almost 30 years later.

Vintage D&D artwork of any kind is incredibly hard to come by. To land the first appearance image to a creature still in use 30 years later was a stroke of luck.
