Description

Jim Valentino, writer and artist for Guardians of the Galaxy, left Marvel circa GOTG #27 to help form Image Comics. He originally had planned on staying with Marvel and even had GOTG plotted through Issue #51. However things didn't turn out that way. Not that long ago, Jim Valentino revealed his original GOTG timeline and it was a kickass rollar coaster compared to the tame stories we got after his departure. Issue #50 was to feature not only the death of Galactus, and the destruction of the Earth, but also the death of the leader of the Guardians: Major Vance Astro (who in current Marvel continuity goes by the name Justice). The storyline was so compelling to me, I asked Jim about doing a commissioned cover based on what would have been his final planned issue - #51 - The Aftermath. I pitched the idea of swiping the infamous Crisis on Infinite Earths cover, and I was surprised at how well received the idea went. A few days later, the artwork has arrived. So here it is: Jim Valentino's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #51 as it was intended to be, with no Irish Wolfhound.

Incredible commission! What a cool idea. I really enjoyed GOTG, and it was cool to read about Valentino's original plans for the title. You've got a cool collection of GOTG artwork.
