Interior Book "Spoof" Cover from "Marc Spector: Moon Knight Special Edition #1." Supposedly this was a spoof cover based on Silver Age Daredevil covers published within the book. Published in 1992.

Per the inker, Chris Ivy, the initial use of this piece was his inking over Colon as an extra pin-up at the back of a Moon Knight Special #1. Several months later, Marvel re-used the initial pin-up as the actual cover for Marc Spector: Moon Knight Special Edition #1. I received these details from Ivy in April 2024.

I purchased this beautiful cover directly from Gene Colan at the 2005 San Diego Con. He signed the artwork at my request. BIG thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Colan for allowing me to purchase this artwork directly from them!

I've read that Marc Spector: Moon Knight Special Edition #1 contains a Moon Knight cover gallery featuring alternate versions of the hero. I wonder if this is one of them? I don't think I have a raw copy of this book, only a couple in CGC cases. I'll check to see if I have a reader copy. This got me curious. Gorgeous piece!

I never gave much thought to Gene doing Moon Knight but after seeing it I think its a shame he didn't do more on the character, since his style really looked like a great combination. This is a really great piece.

All these covers, this one and four others, were published as a back-up feature in the MOON KNIGHT SPECIAL EDITION one-shot that came out in 1992.
