Description

Ferdinando Fontana showed this pencil rendering on Facebook in late August 2020 and described it as "An ode of sorts to Neal’s outstanding cover for Savage Tales #4. I re-positioned the figure of the ghostly apparition hovering above Conan in an effort to get closer to the original composition, as seen in Neal’s preliminary sketch. I had tons of fun with these characters, especially the creature. Couldn’t help fleshing out all the detail. Neal did really create a tour de force with this cover"

When I saw the piece I couldn't resist asking if it was for sale. Ferdinando was very accommodating and after a brief period it arrived here safe and sound.

The piece measures 12 inches x 16 inches and was affixed to conservation quality mount board.

It is indeed - I have it propped up beside my computer screen and haven't been able to convince myself to move it from that spot. So much nicer in person than the scan!
