Description

Kari Suomalainen (1920-1999) was the editorial cartoonist of the leading Finnish newspaper for over 40 years. Kari was, and still is, the gold standard for Finnish cartooning and today (October 15th) is the 100th anniversary of his birth. This newspaper cartoon depicts the 1978 presidential campaign in Finland. Urho Kekkonen (left), the president of Finland at that time, was running for re-election in a league of his own, as opposed to the other candidates.
