Description
This is the subsequent page to the much-commented upon page 10. This is from a fondly remembered issue which was the first issue in the series to combine Heck pencils with really great Wood inks. Alas, this combination was only to last for another two issues. However, we did have John Romita Sr inks on Avengers #23 (which was his first work for Marvel).

As it also turns out, I did obtain the subsequent page (page 12) from this very same issue many, many years ago as well. How prices have escalated since!

I really like how Wood's slick inks refined Heck's line. The blacks are beautifully spotted, and I have especially always loved the variation of the line weights when drawing Quicksilver in super speed motion, as the technique always and to this day really helps the suspension of disbelief and makes you feel like he is moving quicker than the eye can see!

Wow!  A truly terrific example.  Heck and Wood together was a wonderful duo.

Avengers 26 has a rematch where Hawkeye manages to tag Quicksilver but these pages of insecure heroes trying to justify their acceptance into the mighty ranks & legacy of the Avengers always struck a chord with me....

Proving once again that all Don needed was the right inker.  And who is better than the great Wally Wood?  If only Stan had kept this duo together........
