DescriptionI finally have a great example from "the good Batman artist"!Dick Sprang was known as "the good Batman artist" during the days before credits were routinely given on splash pages. (The same honor was given to Carl Barks with his seminal work on Donald Duck) He was THE Batman artist of the Golden and early Silver Ages... but he was so much more. An in demand artist on the great Pulps of the 1940's, he even wrote some Lone Ranger Radio Shows! He also was a famed Explorer, who discovered "Defiance House," a previously unknown ancestral Puebloan structure. The records of his long career in this field are preserved largely at Northern Arizona Universities Cline Library Special Collections in Flagstaff, Arizona. I'd call his a life well lived! Back to comics, Sprang illustrated some of the great Batman tales of the era, redesigned the Batmobile, and designed the classic villain, The Riddler! He also drew some of the best loved tales of Superman & Batman during a long run on Worlds Finest! (One of my favs!) This art is an 8-3/8x12-5/8" sheet of paper mounted to slightly larger artboard. The Certification of Authenticity is provided by Sprang's Estate and is signed by his long time Agent, Ike Wilson. Social/Sharing |

That's a wonderful example of the best Batman artist, IMHO. Congratulations.

This really deserves more views. Sprang and Paris defined a generation or more of Batman. The finished pencils on this well done. I appreciated Marshall Rogers' tribute to the Robin hairstyle when drawing him. This is a nice addition to your great gallery.
