Description
My DC posts continue with this awesome full page splash of the new Huntress (Helena Bertinelli) in full costume.

Although we see images of the Huntress in the first five pages of the issue, as she saves a young woman from being mugged in a dark alley, we just get dimly-lit snippets & shadowy glimpses of her as she does her thing.

The rest of the issue is devoted to her upbringing in a mob family and a consequential series of life-changing events that finally lead her to assuming the masked guise of the Huntress on the very last page (this splash!!).

In Helena's own words:
"Helena Bertinelli is gone. She was a facade, masking a great deal of pain. Masking her feelings. Masking her fears. The old facade has cracked. The stoic, the sharp tongue... all broken down to provide fuel for a new self. Helena thought she was intimidating. She couldn't scare anybody. It's time to invent someone who can. To confront the ultimate killers, I must construct the ultimate alias. To combat the murderers who would destroy my family, crush my own life on their way to consuming everything. I must become a greater, more fearsome destroyer. To track down the animals who prey on the innocent, I must stalk them first... I am no longer their quarry. I am... The Huntress."

Fantastic first appearance splash! Never seen an inking job by Giordano like this. Are these markers, colored pencils, zip-tone? Looks cool! Congrats, Paul

Such a large, fantastic image! I really LOVED it when inkers used to use these duo-shade boards during the latter half of the 80's and into the 90's. The different, shaded dotted patterns give the art an extra special finished look, so kudos to Giordano for that here on this one. Also, your quote makes me want to read the issue!

Great splash from a great (sadly overlooked) serie.

I love that splash, it's a great introduction of the new Huntress. The moon behind her head, that look to her new future,  it's just really well set. And good writing, too. Agreed with Reuben, I want to check it out. Congrats!

So cool!  A heroic shot if I've seen one and works perfectly with the captions.  Love the greyscale, too.  Congrats, Paul - a worthy addition to DC week!

I was a big Joe Staton fan back in the day, but I remember not liking the look of this particular comic when I picked it up. I guess it was the printing, because, wow, Joe's art looks fantastic in its original art form.
