Mangog vs.
Big Barda and
Mr. Miracle by
Tom Fowler
As I'm sure you all know by now, I am a HUGE fan of Tom Fowler's work, and I've been wanting him to contribute to my "Asgard Meets The Fourth World" collection for a long time. And a while back, we finally officially set a commission up! I mentioned a few possibilities for matchups, and ultimately we decided on Barda and her charming husband taking on the monstrous Mangog! And wow oh wow did Tom deliver one awesome commission here! Where do I start? Mangog looks incredible! He is one of Jack Kirby's weirder designs, but I love him. Tom is fantastic at drawing weird monsters, so this was perfect for him. I love how Tom depicted his horns, and those spots and the hair on his arms are great touches. Then we have Big Barda, the ultimate badass woman who will never back down from anyone. She looks strong and determined, and I love that she is smashing Mangog right in the mouth with her Mega-Rod. And look at how Tom drew Mister Miracle's face! He loves Barda so much, and even though I'm sure he didn't need her help to escape Mangog's grip, he can't help but love her even more for her efforts. And then there's poor old Thor. I'm sure he tried to fight Mangog, but that obviously didn't work out. I love that Tom added some humor to this dramatic battle. This commission has it all - a giant monster, a powerful warrior, true love, and a bit of humor. I could not ask for more. HUGE thanks to Tom for yet again delivering the best commissions!
How do I think this fight will go? Well, Mangog is pretty much unstoppable. And though I'm sure she'll try, Barda is not going to beat him in a purely physical fight. But Scott Free is sneaky, and I have a feeling that he will come up with some way to trap or dispose of Mangog, at least for a while.
