DescriptionOriginal Art Page for Silver Surfer #50, published by Marvel Comics in June of 1991. This is Page 13 from the issue, from the leadup to Jim Starlin's classic Infinity Gauntlet, as Thanos has probed the Surfer's mind, forcing him to relive traumatic early memories. A poignant scene, with young Norrin Radd and Shalla Bal, and a stunning large middle splash panel of Zenn-La! This is from the key landmark fiftieth issue, notable not only for the first silver foil embossed cover, but as a classic retelling and expansion of the Surfer's origin story, and the issue which leads directly into Infinity Gauntlet #1. The artwork is by one of the great artists of the modern age, Ron Lim. Lim has done great work on a number of titles, including Spiderman and X-Men, but is probably best-known and loved for his work on the Silver Surfer, particularly on the Thanos and Infinity Gauntlet storylines. Starlin is also one of the most legendary creators in the history of comics, who is probably best-known for his cosmic Captain Marvel / Warlock / Thanos storylines, which have received even greater attention since the blockbuster Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame movies. The piece has some slight use of whiteout and blue pencil in the word bubble areas, as well as red lines added, and has small standard hole punches on the middle left and right side edges, as well as white tape pieces added at the bottom edge. It is done on official Marvel Comics illustration art board which measures approximately 11" by 17 1/4".Social/Sharing |
