DescriptionCurrently in Brian Ketterer's gallery.
I’ve gotten many wonderful compliments from the fine people of CAF about my collection/gallery. All giving me credit for being smart enough to buy all the pieces I bought way back when. Well, now I’m about to show you all what an absolute idiot I was. Keep in mind that many of the pieces that currently reside in my collection came from these very same catalogs. So the next time you want to call me a genius for all the pieces I did buy back then, just take a look at some of the rubbish I DIDN’T buy! In other words, this is the collection I COULD‘VE had. (Somebody shoot me now! LOL) What is very interesting to note here is that during this 9-year span of catalogs (1984-1993), there is nothing here that is priced over (or anywhere near) $1000. Actually (with the exception of the Killing Joke page), nothing even breaks the $500 range. Absolutely incredible for pieces that could all easily be five figures (or more) today! By the way, I’ve got dozens and dozens of these. So I’ll be posting them in chunks from time to time (to prolong the torture). Social/Sharing |

Well, hope that Brian bought it in 1984... Or that he'll miss this post.

Ha! Too late my friend. I already warned him it was coming. But like you I can only hope he is the original owner.

Actually seems a little high. I remember Mitch had the cover to Captain Marvel 26 for sale for $250 in San Diego in '88 or '89 and nobody bought it. I called him up a week later and bought it for $225

Yeah, not really sure how Mitch was pricing Starlin back then. As far as the catalogs, he only had one cover that I snipped from the 1990 catalog also for $250. But I also clipped a full page splash from a 1988 catalog for $125. My favorite (when I start posting the panel pages) was the listing he had for Iron Man $55 pages (1st Thanos) for $25 each from a 1989 catalog. I'm thinking that since this 1984 catalog was only his third one, he didn't quite have the pricing down. But who knows? Maybe he just liked the page. Anyway, great job snagging the #26 cover. Thanks for the comment Len. Stay safe buddy (and say HI to Mick for me)!
