DescriptionThe tenderness on this page really stands out. The panels of Francine and Katchoo hugging in the first and second row and the words that accompany them are so wonderful.There's also a lot of great details such as Francine's beautiful voluminous hair (Terry's brush work at its best) and Katchoo's content expression in the middle. Jet and Rachel's all-seeing birds appear on the page too! The second row where Terry used Avery labels to cover up his original writing really intrigued me. I remember asking Terry about it and he said he felt he could communicate the same sentiment in a better way. I thought some people might enjoy knowing what's underneath the labels so I've included the published words with the original words in parentheses below. -I remember (You love me.) -when you washed your hair (that belongs to me.) -and fall asleep (Yes.) -on my lap. (Bring it to me, it's mine.) -come back to me. (What?!) Terry said the lines "that belongs to me" and "Bring it to me, it's mine" refer to Francine speaking about Katchoo's heart. When I first saw this at NYCC in 2019, I didn't get the page. Somehow I couldn't stop thinking about it when I got home. So I went back to Terry on the next day and then got to read the original words for the first time. The words sealed the deal and I purchased my first original art page from Terry. Side Note: I used to tell Terry when I saw him that one of these days I will buy one of your original art pages. He told me that I would hopefully do it in his lifetime. I've always wanted one of Terry's snowy pages and also one with both the girls and it finally happened! Social/Sharing |
