I remember that this cover was one of the late Bruce Lowry pride and joy pieces. He always brought this out to show it off. And no wonder. It still is something to behold! Congrats on adding this gem to your wonderful collection.

I didn't read a lot of war or western books, so, except for this old DC Special that reprinted some of his Golden Age and Silver Age stuff or maybe an issue of the Atom & Hawkman book, my first real introduction to his work on a regular series came with Tarzan. His art was so different from the usual stuff I pulled off the racks, and I had to adjust to it. Once I did, though, boy, did I ever love Kubert. And, boy, do I ever love this cover.
