Jubilee 01

I've known about Jubilee from the first episode of that classic 1993 Fox Kids X-men animated series, but I hadn't followed the progression of her character. I didn't know that she was now an adult, is a mother, and also a vampire. So imagine the learning curve for all that. When I got a commission to do this character, I knew I had to research the new uniform she has. I love it but I had to throw in some X-Men paraphernalia, hence the belt. Etched on 9 x 12" with mixed media, with photo reference from a friend, here we have Jubilee still chillin with the bubblegum and checking her smartphone. Overall I'm proud of this because the body language engages the viewer so you don't need her to display her fireworks abilities. As long as the body language conveys the character, you're set. The red background was selected to show contrast, plain and simple. I had a lot of yellow and black and needed a strong color that would have it stand out. So R17 - orange red for copic markers - was the candidate.
