Description
This was an NYCC commission that ended up being drawn by Paul on the back of a camel in Egypt. Yes that is how Paul Pope rolls. Well.. that is mostly true. Great example of his magnificent slithery brushwork. Thank Paul and Felix!

Cool sketch, if you hadn't mentioned camel, i'd have guessed water buffalo.

This is awesome!  When I initially read it was drawn in the back of a camel, I originally thought you meant on the back of a pack of camel cigarettes...  Surely that’s too small for such detail...?  Oh, yeah - Paul Pope.  Gotta be the animal... :)  Lovely image and GREAT story!  Congrats!

What I'd like to know is how you managed to get that camel under your scanner with this sketch on it. (Well, you DID say Paul drew it on the back of a camel....).

Fearless with his strokes yet every stroke is exactly where it should be.

Love this Teddy Roosevelt! Paul Pope is an always amazing artist. He makes every drawing feel fresh, like something you've never seen before. I love his slippery, slithery linework. It looks so simple, but it is anything but. Here, Teddy R. becomes a young man again, ready to take on whatever comes his way. Great pick-up--Congrats!
