Description

This is the original production cover for Richie Rich #17, published by Harvey Comics in May of 1963. It features the classic Warren Kremer yachting/sail boating image, with Richie front and center. Most of the main images are printed photostats (Richie and the left and right side of the yacht), with original art drawn in the middle of the yacht, and at the very bottom some small lines added. There is also a piece added with the smoke from the smoke stack that looks to be hand-drawn, and also some of the ocean waves and the line tethering Richie's canoe to the yacht looks to also be hand-drawn with some whiteout added. This may all be clear from the picture, but I thought I should point it out just in case it's not. The piece is on bristol board kind of paper which measures approximately 10" by 14 1/4". There is general wear to be expected, with a crease line that goes across the top, and also minor glue stain remains where the logo is missing (this is common, as Harvey generally re-used the logos, so most covers don't have them). The piece displays nicely, and is a really early cover, which are very hard to find at this point. Although published in May of 1963, it has a date stamp on the back of "Nov 19 1962", so like I said, it's a real early one and a classic image to boot!
