DD Commission - Pencils

During the Orlando Con in 2005 I had been discussing a DD Commission by Gene Colan with his then-inker Dave Gutierrez. At that time I had collected a number of pages from DD #56 and was having an insane idea of assembling the book. However, since it was highly unlikely that I would ever find the original cover, I decided to have an alternative cover done by Gene.
It was supposed to prominently display a half-naked Karen Page in bondage, DD, Death's-Head and his skeleton horse. In other words, I had envisioned a somewhat different image than the original cover, but what I got was basically a copy of the original with Karen Page in a corner. For years my disappointment kept me from displaying the commission in CAF, but here it is. Finally! Not bad at all, but not what I'd asked for either. Pencil on Bristol board 16" x 22".
