The good news, I know where this is. The bad news, the owner isn't exactly hard up for cash. So for any of you who might be on a grail quest for this one, it's not going anywhere in this lifetime (or even the next). Then again, Mr. del Toro is quite the avid collector. So maybe you can entice him with a trade. LOL

First, let me apologize in advance for the pain I am about to inflict on all of you. Especially if you are the current or former owner of any of these pieces. I figured since I have a near complete set of Mitch’s old mail order catalogs, it might be “fun” (if not masochistic) to take a stroll down memory lane. But take heart. For even though most (if not all) of these posts will be almost unbearable and cringe worthy to many of you, just remember that 20-30 years from now, these will be the “good old days” to some new collector just starting out.

I’ve gotten many wonderful compliments from the fine people of CAF about my collection/gallery. All giving me credit for being smart enough to buy all the pieces I bought way back when. Well, now I’m about to show you all what an absolute idiot I was. Keep in mind that many of the pieces that currently reside in my collection came from these very same catalogs. So the next time you want to call me a genius for all the pieces I did buy back then, just take a look at some of the rubbish I DIDN’T buy! In other words, this is the collection I COULD‘VE had. (Somebody shoot me now! LOL)

What is very interesting to note here is that during this 9-year span of catalogs (1984-1993), there is nothing here that is priced over (or anywhere near) $1000. Actually (with the exception of the Killing Joke page), nothing even breaks the $500 range. Absolutely incredible for pieces that could all easily be five figures (or more) today!

By the way, I’ve got dozens and dozens of these. So I’ll be posting them in chunks from time to time (to prolong the torture).

Mr Del Toro will not last forever. All you have to do is wish him dead sooner. Lol. Theres still hope.

Hmm, that's an optimistic (if not morbid) way of looking at it. Unfortunately, while human beings do expire, museums don't. And I'm pretty sure his estate will keep his museum going long after you and I are gone. Not that we have to worry about that anyway. It's not like either of us has $300-500k lying around. LOL

Or it could be Frazetta time. Shut the museum and start selling. Who says his relatives would want to keep a museum going?

Thank you my friend. I wish that was a novel idea, but it's one that's been floated to me before. Easier said than done I'm afraid. So hard to give up my babies. Even when there's several hundred of them. LOL! Guess I'll just have to go back to selling organs on ebay.

There you go. You have admitted the problem. The first step. Several hundred babies are more than anyone can support. Who will look after your babies when you are gone? Find good foster parents. Think of the babies!

I forgot to say that you should take a look at your babies. Every parent has a favorite or favorites, no matter how much they may deny it to the world. The good news about paper babies is they not weep when you send them elsewhere. I guess you keep the ones you do not want to look at so much in portfolios and have the really good looking ones on the walls! Lol. How many organs can you sell before you run out? Theres a new slogan for you, 'Sell art, not organs'
