Such a sweet checking of collector bucket listings!!! FF4? Done. Surfer? Boom. NYC scaping? Oh yeah. Mc-freaking-Guinness??? Perfection! Congrats on snagging a piece and especially when you were the only one that truly wanted it! Great story!
Since you've made all the aesthetic points, I suppose you leave the rest of us with nothing else to say except: Baller!
Ah! Am I frustrating you, Ruben? ˆˆ
Thank you for the comment :)
I thought about this one for a minute myself, too - glad you to see up here on CAF and in your collection! So much depth, which I love in OA. Also, I remember when I first saw it how I thought "this feels classic yet still modern". Similar to your point on the Buscema influence on SS but still also clearly being McGuinness. Congrats!
Happy birthday brother! Stunner
SUPER cool! As you say, Ed’s Thing is always SUCH a treat to look at (*sigh* - sorry, I know how that sounds...), and I love his take on this era’s FF (I agree that it has to be right around FF 55, based on the costumes - those Kirby “shorts” over the tights - and Sue is totally rocking the hairstyle in Ed’s hands)! That Surfer is simply marvelous, and the detailed cityscape...? Fuhgeddaboutit! Obviously a labor of love for Mr. McGuinness - what a great piece! - and I’m delighted it ended up in your awesome collection. Happy birthday, day four!
I see the Buscema. I see McGuinness. And I see awesome. I really like the angle he took, but it's no surprise, because he airways chooses the cool angle. And everyone is so detailed and carefully rendered. You have quite a cool find here. Fitting for a birthday week, to be sure. Big congrats!
This one has a cool nostalgic feel attached to it, congrats !
Pretty damn cool! Congrats!
Nice cover. Congrats!
Love this one! Always a big fan where the Surfer is coming right at you.
